Home of the Dallas Cowboys football team, the AT&T Stadium is the largest of any NFL franchise, and the largest domed building in the world at 3.0 million square feet, and 104 million cubic feet of air conditioned space. Childress Engineering Services was able to provide it’s expertise to this unique project by providing engineering design and layout assistance for the architect and structural engineer as well as the Engineer of Record for the exterior skin façade including engineering, shop drawings, and fabrication drawings of all glass, glazing, and curtain wall glazing systems (approximately 500,000 square feet of glass and composite aluminum panels). CES worked as an integral member of the design team providing the design details and assistance.

August, 2014During the summer of 2014 a fire heavily damaged a large portion of one building at PJ Trailer manufacturing company. Childress Engineering First Response Team was called to conduct an assessment of the facility to determine the structural integrity of the remaining portion of the building. Once the assessment was performed, CES prepared structural remediation plans to replace the fire damaged structural components. Working with the Owner and Contractor, CES developed and implemented a scheduled phasing plan so that the undamaged portion of the building could remain occupied and production could continue, minimizing production down time for the business owner.

A three story medical office building in Austin TX. was substantially damaged by a fire damaging approximately 60% of the 3rd floor. Childress Engineering Services First Response Team was contacted to assess the building to determine if the remaining portions of the building was safe to begin the removal process of the contents. CES designed shoring plans to support the 2nd and 3rd floors and designed temporary lateral support for the rest of the building. The shoring and temporary lateral support remained in place during the removal of contents, demolition, and re-construction of the damaged portion of the building.

This project has a two level concrete parking garage, with three floors of wood framed student housing adjacent to the Texas Christian University campus. The 56 unit, 116 bedroom private student apartment was completed in 2013.

Childress Engineering Services is currently charged with structural engineering and the design of all curtain wall systems, shop drawings, fabrication drawings and engineering of custom unitized curtain wall.

Childress Engineering worked mall management to consolidate an existing restaurant space and four retail spaces into one anchor space for Old Navy. Old Navy provided their prototype plan and elevation drawings for Childress Engineering to adapt to the site conditions at the mall. The adaptation required a new entry elevation as well as a new truck dock and sub-grade ramp on the west of the building.

In February of 2010 a magnitude 8.8 earthquake hit the coast of Chile. Childress Engineering Services first response team was brought in to provide life safety systems, assess structural damage, design and monitor shoring and stabilization requirements. CES designed a shoring plan and schedule, which was used to allow the safe evacuation of the building contents. There were no injuries on this 8 month long project.

In February of 2014 a fire erupted at a storage facility in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The internal structural supports of the building were destroyed along with the exterior walls which supported the roof. The First Response Team from Childress Engineering Services was called to assist with initial buildings structural assessment, then addressing the life safety issues during the investigation and clean up. CES also monitored the structural stabilization and shoring of the racks during document retrieval and the removal of the building contents and the removal of the racking system. Working with the project team, the removal work was successfully completed without any injuries to any workers.
